DEACON FRANKLIN D. BURKLEY

"To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven."

Ecclesiastes 3:1

-A TIME TO BE BORN-

On May 27, 1939, a baby boy was born to Lee Burkley and Hannah Davis Burkley in Rusk County, in city Henderson, Texas.

-A TIME FOR AN EDUCATION-

Franklin went to public school in Fort Worth ISD, attending the Como area schools. He attended Texas College on a football scholarship where he received his Bachelor's degree. While at Texas College he pledged to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He went on to receive a Master's degree from North Texas.

-A TIME FOR COURTSHIP-

Franklin married the love of his life, Jackie, on October 20, 1976, in Fort Worth, Texas. They shared a wonderful, loving 49 years of marriage.

-A TIME FOR WORSHIP-

Franklin had a strong love for the Lord and received Christ at an early age. He grew up in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As a faithful leader, he served in many capacities of the ministries of Sweet Home Baptist Church of Fort Worth, including chairman of the Deacon Board and Finance Director. He was one of the deacons who oversaw the building of the James C. Brown Educational Wing.

-A TIME FOR DEPARTURE-

On September 22, 2024, Franklin as released from his earthly ties and freed to enter heaven's glory to be reunited with his Mother and Father, and other loved ones who preceded him in death. Left in the caring hands of God are his wife, Jackie Burkley; children Debra Burkley, Sharon Burkley, Lydia Hall (Doug Gleason), and Clint Hall; grandchildren Kenneth Holt (Keely Holt), Erica Hall (Kyle Barzano), and Andy Hall; great-grandchildren Samuel Holt, Alexander Holt, Nico Barzano and Skylar Barzano; and his Sweet Home Baptist Church family who he dearly loved.
